First round leaders Hunter Cornelius of Ringgold, Georgia and Alex Harrell of Phenix City, Alabama claimed the overall titles at the SJGT TPC Junior Classic in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The field of 133 golfers played one round on the Dye Valley Course and one round on the Players Stadium Course.
Cornelius fired a one over par 73 (which included a hole-in-one on #8) on the Stadium Course in round two to go along with his four under par 68 on the Valley Course in round one to claim the Male 16-19 division. Branden Collins of Tallahassee, Florida carded two rounds of 73 to claim second place. John Michael O’ Toole of Pinson, Alabama was third in the division with 71-76.
Harrell, who won last year’s TPC Sawgrass event, shot 80 on the Stadium Course in the first round and 79 on the Valley Course in round two to take the Female 15-19 title. Jordan Knight of Simpsonville, South Carolina was second with 83-78. Madalyn Everts of Ooltewah, Tennessee was third with rounds of 86 and 81.
Ben Holm of Alpharetta, Georgia was the champion of the Male 14-15 division. Holm fired a 69 on the Valley Course in round two for a 148 total and the win. Holm also won the Male 14-15 division last year at TPC Sawgrass. Zachary Healy of Norcross, Georgia took second with rounds of 78 and 74. Third place in the division went to Tripp H’Doubler of Atlanta, who fired 78-77.
David Mackey of Bogart, Georgia claimed his third Male 12-13 title of the year with two rounds of 74. Salil Ghamande of Evans, Georgia was second after his 156 total, which included a 71 on the Valley Course during the second round. Ryan Stachler of Alpharetta rounded out the top three with 78-79.
