About Us News
The Southeastern Junior Golf Tour was founded on the principle of giving junior golfers a chance to play competitive golf while building their resume for a potential collegiate golf career. The SJGT was founded in 1994 by Todd Thompson in Atlanta, Georgia. The inaugural year had 6 events and 60 members. 2009 will be the 16th season for the SJGT and the number of events will exceed 38 and the number of members will total over 1000. Over the last 15 years the SJGT has not only expanded in the number of events and members but there have been changes in the geographical area where the events are hosted. The SJGT will cover the following six states in 2009: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi, and Tennessee. The SJGT does its best to stay up with technology and with its web site. In 2009 the SJGT will add access to a fitness program for all of the members. The SJGT has plans to have a fitness trainer at almost all of the events and the players will learn the proper way to stretch before and after rounds and they will have the opportunity to sign up for their own fitness program.

The SJGT is meeting the needs of our expanding membership by scheduling more events over the some of the best courses in the Southeast. Some of the courses include: TPC Sawgrass, Fallen Oak, Huntsville CC, RTJ Courses in Dothan, Muscle Shoals and Opelika, Saugahatchee CC, Willow Creek GC, Point Clear and many others. The SJGT has also scheduled a number of events in college towns and this is a way for a player to play a quality event and to get a chance to visit some of the great colleges and universities across the southeast. The SJGT will be in and near the following colleges and universities in 2009: Auburn University, University of Florida, University of Georgia, University of Tennessee, University of North Alabama, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, Valdosta State, Florida State, UAB, Augusta State and College of Charleston to name a few. The SJGT has a goal to administer its events in a professional and courteous manner and to make each event a special one for the players and parents.

The Southeastern Junior Golf Tour Office is located in Auburn, Alabama and the physical location is 221 Cook Street. The SJGT is about 4 to 5 blocks away from the heart of Auburn and the Auburn University Campus. The SJGT moved its offices from Atlanta to Auburn in 2000. The SJGT staff has three full time employees that administer the events. During the summer months the SJGT employees a number of college interns to assist with running the office and the tournaments.
